When two units are this alike, documentation decides
Line the BaseAire AirWerx 90X up against the AlorAir Sentinel HDi90 and the specs are almost eerily matched. Both are rated at 90 pints per day at the AHAM condition of 80°F and 60% relative humidity. Both list a 198-pint saturation figure and claim 2,600 square feet of coverage. Both draw 5.56 amps, both post a 2.69 L/kWh energy factor, both move 210 CFM, both are rated at 58 dBA, both weigh 70.5 pounds, and both include a condensate pump with pump-and-gravity drainage. That’s not a coincidence you can ignore — it points to shared hardware. So the decision comes down to a place where they genuinely differ: what each manufacturer actually puts on the spec sheet.
The running-cost difference is the one that counts
Here’s the divide that matters most. The AlorAir HDi90 publishes a rated wattage — 293 watts — which makes it one of the very few units we can give a verified operating cost for. The BaseAire AirWerx 90X lists the same 5.56-amp draw but no wattage, so we can’t.
That distinction is the whole reason we treat wattage as non-negotiable. We compute operating cost the same way for every unit: watts divided by 1,000, times an assumed 12 active hours a day (a 50% duty-cycle assumption, since the compressor cycles rather than running continuously), times 30 days, times the months you run it, times your local rate. For the HDi90, every input is real, and the on-page estimate is an honest figure you can plug your own electricity rate into. For the AirWerx 90X, the first input is missing, so the calculation stays unverified — even though the two units very likely draw nearly the same power. When the hardware looks identical, being able to actually verify the cost is a real, practical edge for the HDi90.
Two more specs the HDi90 documents and the 90X doesn’t
The pattern continues on two specs that matter in a crawl space:
- Cold-weather floor. The HDi90 is confirmed to operate down to 33.8°F — it keeps removing moisture through cold weather. The AirWerx 90X’s temperature floor isn’t verified in our data, so we can’t promise winter performance in the unconditioned space it’s built for.
- Filtration. The HDi90 lists a MERV-1 filter; the AirWerx 90X’s MERV rating isn’t confirmed. MERV-1 is basic, but at least it’s known — with the 90X you’d be asking the seller to fill that gap.
The HDi90 also carries a six-year warranty to the AirWerx 90X’s five. None of this makes the AirWerx 90X a bad unit — it may be the identical machine — but the HDi90 tells you more about what you’re buying, and it does so on the specs a crawl space buyer should care about most.
Where that leaves the AirWerx 90X
The AirWerx 90X’s path to winning is availability and price. If it’s clearly cheaper or easier to get than the HDi90, and you’re willing to confirm the unverified specs — especially the cold-weather floor — directly with the seller, it’s very likely the same capable 90-pint pump unit for less. That’s a legitimate reason to choose it; it just puts more of the verification work on you.

It’s easy to wave off a missing wattage as a minor omission, but on two units this alike it’s actually the most useful thing separating them. Both very likely draw close to the same power — they share the 5.56-amp figure — yet only the HDi90’s published 293 watts lets you do the math that matters: watts divided by 1,000, times your assumed run hours and duty cycle, times your electricity rate, gives a real seasonal cost. That turns “it’s efficient” into a number you can put in a budget and compare against other units. With the AirWerx 90X you’re left inferring the same cost from an amperage, which isn’t the same thing and isn’t something we’ll publish as fact. For a unit that may run much of a humid season, knowing rather than guessing the running cost is a genuine, practical advantage — and it’s the HDi90’s, essentially for free, given the hardware looks identical.

The BaseAire AirWerx 90X earns consideration mainly on price and availability, accepting that you’ll be taking a few specs on trust.
